Explorer Scouts aged between 14 to 17 years can become Young Leaders.
Young Leaders are still Explorer Scouts and are encouraged to take part in the Balanced Programme provided by their District. They are also members of the District Young Leaders Unit.
The Young Leader’s Scheme in St Helens provides opportunities for Young People aged 14-17 to help as volunteer Young Leaders in the Scout Association.
Our Young Leaders work as part of a team to deliver challenging, adventurous and above all fun activities to Beaver Scouts (aged 6-7), Cub Scouts (aged 8-10) or Scouts (aged 11-14).
Young Leaders receive full training, including a first aid certificate, which looks great on your CV or UCAS personal statement as well as ongoing support from our trained mentors.
Since 2012 we’ve grown to have over 50 Young Leaders across St Helens and Knowsley and we want to continue to grow and offer this opportunity to as many young people as possible.
Our volunteers also get access to all the opportunities that Scouting has to offer, with the chance to join in with local Explorer Scout Units, and complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, if they wish to do so.
