And they are off, we wished Bon Voyage and Safe Journey to our intrepid 2023 Jamboree contingent representing St Helens Explorer Units Windle Wombles, Haydock Phoenixes and Sutton Scorpions with with the rest of the 34 Merseyside team members as they left to travel to Manchester Airport this week to meet up with thousands of other excited Scouts converging at the Jamboree central camp in South Korea.
Years of hard work, fundraising and training within our district and county wide culminated to their departure on Wednesday as they left on the first leg of their adventure as part of Unit 54 – Mersey Roar. They are accompanied by a group of Unit leaders including Sarah Pye from Blackbrook Scouts and will meet up with other activity leaders at base camp who include Liam and Tom from the 15th Scouts.
The World Jamboree dates back to 1920 and takes place every four years , as Scouts from 170 countries from around the globe come together to promote unity, community a togetherness.
We look forward to their safe return where they will visit our groups to give presentations detailing their adventures and all the fun they had experiencing different cultures and making new friends.
